Company Overview

Gigaband is a developer of next generation wireless service provider and technology with global patents for their heuristic mesh wireless technology.

GIGABAND IS LED BY its Founder and CEO Michael Golden, who has a 40-year track record of success in developing and deploying advanced communications and network technologies. The National Science Foundation considers Mike Golden and his technical team to be an asset to the future of Internet technology.

Operational Status

Gigaband is currently targeting initial beta network deployments in 3 test communities during the first and second quarters of 2016. Successful community-wide beta tests will become the basis for initial licensing discussions with ODM manufactures and network operators.

Gigaband holds patents for its heuristic mesh wireless technology. This creates opportunities for widespread deployments, not only in the U.S. but also in emerging markets throughout the world. Gigaband’s unique symmetrical broadband connectivity is 10 times faster than typical cable-based home Internet service, and it’s 1/6 the cost to deploy versus current fiber and wired networks.

Gigaband holds patents in six countries including the US for its heuristic mesh wireless technology. This creates opportunities for widespread deployments, not only in the U.S. but also in emerging markets throughout the world. Gigaband’s unique symmetrical broadband connectivity is up to 10 times faster than typical cable-based home Internet service, and it’s 1/3rd the cost to deploy versus current fiber and coaxial wired networks.
As a developer of next generation wireless service and technology, Gigaband works in partnership with the Wireless Research Center of North Carolina (WRC) and the Arizona State University School of Engineering (ASU) to eliminate the digital divide that relegates many people in underserved exurban and rural communities to second-class digital citizenship.

Value Proposition

Gigaband’s Value: Using its patented technology combined with open source software, firmware and available unlicensed and licensed spectrum, Gigaband will typical deliver up to 300Mbps of wireless broadband to businesses and consumers at approximately 30% of the typical capital cost of wired (fiber, cable, copper) Internet infrastructure deployments. When deployed in communities Gigaband’s wireless infrastructure can potentially provide not only high-capacity Internet and content streaming services to subscriber’s homes and businesses; it can provide a low-cost back-haul solution for cell-phone companies to deploy “Het-net” small cells eliminating the need for additional towers in those communities while dramatically improving cellular coverage.

Gigaband has patented and developed, along with its partners, an intelligent wireless technology to deliver commercial-grade, high capacity broadband Internet services to hard-to-serve communities, remote regions, and industrial settings at an extremely low capital and build-out cost. Gigaband is now moving into Phase 2 development and community-wide test deployments. Gigaband’s high speed, large capacity and low cost combine to break the constraints of traditional ROI models, enabling licensed Gigaband networks to complete and win on price, in both direct-to-consumer and B2B resale models in communities already served by incumbent cable and fiber providers.

Gigaband’s combination of performance and unrivalled economics makes capturing the market of unserved and underserved Internet customers possible. Over the next five years, Gigaband expects to license U.S. and international networks passing more than 10 million homes and businesses and serving approximately 1 million subscribers, generating annual EBITDA conservatively estimated at more than $250 million. Our Vision

"We provide the network that enables families, communities and countries, whether in calm or crisis, access to an empowered Internet lifestyle that revolutionizes their daily entertainment and communication experience."

"We are developing community networks that will enable families and communities to access an embowered Internet lifestyle that will revolutionize their daily entertainment, business, educational, health-care and communication experiences."

Gigaband is a high-capacity wireless “last-mile” bandwidth distribution system technology being developed in an informal partnership with Arizona State University. The company was founded in 2005 by veterans of AT&T, SBC, Bell Atlantic, and Enron Broadband Services. The company’s patented technology will support residential connections to the Internet at up to 10 times the speed of typical cable connections and up to 50 times the speed of typical DSL today. This will transform the experience of the Internet for many people into a fully visual real-time communication and entertainment experience. Our issued US and international patents were granted broad methods claims. The patents describe powerful methods for using low cost commodity radio chips to create high-reliability, high-capacity community-wide ultra-fast wireless Internet access systems.

"Gigaband can provide equivalent bandwidth service, speed and reliability in suburban and rural neighborhoods to the fiber-to-the-home systems now being deployed by Verizon, AT&T, Google and others--but at a tiny fraction of their capital and operational cost."

Gigaband Team

Expertise is an asset

“The experience of the Principal Investigator (PI) and the team is an asset to the project,” according to the National Science Foundation’s assessment of Gigaband’s Small Business Innovation Research Project.

MIKE GOLDENFounder & CEO

Mike Golden

Mike Golden has a long and distinguished career as an entrepreneur and inventor, conceiving and executing ideas proven to be both scalable and lucrative. In his early career as a Mattel inventor, he conceived of educational toys that have remained continuously on the market for more than 45 years, generating an estimated $3 billion in revenue. Golden holds 23 patents, many of which are for advanced network architectures that have been successfully deployed. Among his contributions as the founding CEO of multiple successful communications technology start-ups, was a global network management solution eventually sold to Enron for an 8X investor return. This technology was ultimately transferred to the public domain, and was adopted by Internet2 to provide end-to-end global QoS services and on-demand and reserved end-to-end fiber-optic bandwidth between research institutions. Mike Golden currently serves as Founder, CEO, CTO of GigaBand. He is regarded as an industry thought leader, and frequently speaks at national events.

Kira McClellan

Kira McClellan

Kira McClellan is currently CEO of Direct Source Wealth. She has successfully built a multi-million dollar practice in large scale commercial real estate development and financing. A Magna Cum Laude graduate of George Washington University’s MPA program, McClellan focuses on effective corporate governance while diligently monitoring the double bottom line. Her relationships in both the public and private sector have generated innovative funding solutions, allowing Gigaband to remain non-diluted while ramping up to deployment.

Michael C. Keeling

Michael C. Keeling

Mike Keeling is an expert in the development of intellectual property who brings a potent professional combination to Gigaband as both an attorney and engineer. Mike specializes in intellectual property with a focus on patents, trademark and copyright law, telecommunications law and technology licensing. Mike is a skilled negotiator and has over 35 years of hands-on experience developing, implementing and harvesting complex technical initiatives.
